種子島焼

Tanegashima-yaki(Tanegashima ware/種子島焼) is a Japanese pottery made in Tanegashima island. 

​

Tanegashima island is one of the islands belonging to Osumi islands, which is located south of Kyushu island.  Tanegashima is close to Yakushima, World Heritage Site since 1993. 

​

Tanegashima ware can trace its roots to Yokino-yaki(Yokino ware/能野焼) which was also made in Japan before WWII.
